Not long after embarking in this field, Michael’s grandparents reached out to him. They needed somebody to look over their insurance and financial portfolio. With their grandson in the business, it made sense for Michael to be that “somebody.”

Not being one to deny family, Michael took on the challenge and looked over his grandparents’ portfolio. Everything made sense except for the Medicare portion. The Medicare portion was like reading Egyptian hieroglyphs that had been written with invisible ink. In other words, it was super confusing.

One thing to know about Michael Friedman, he’s like Sherlock Holmes. When he’s presented with a mystery, he doesn’t give up until that mystery is solved. So he tackled the mystery of the confusing Medicare portfolio. Over the next six months, he wrestled with it, poring over all things Medicare-related so as to understand the beast that opposed him.

Through his journey, he discovered two things. First, his grandparents were not in the best Medicare plan for their specific situation. Secondly, he realized that if his grandparents were confused, and if it took six months for him to figure it all out, perhaps there were others who were equally confused. And maybe these others didn’t have half a year to devote to understanding this crazy thing called Medicare.

Michael saw a need. Furthermore, he saw that his knowledge was the answer to that need. It was like a superpower, and he had the potential to become a superhero. Like all superheroes, he chose to use his power for the greater good. Thus Medicare Mike was born.

Today, Medicare Mike fights against the confusion created by Medicare. He helps clients understand the program and guides them toward getting the best plan for their specific needs and budget.
