What i Need To Know About My Medicare benefits!

Medicare can be complicated, and quite frankly, boring. That’s why it’s a good idea to reach out to Medicare Mike. Medicare is all Mike does, and because of that, he knows the program well. If you really want to learn more … you can keep reading. But read at your own risk: Medicare education is a known sleep aid in the right conditions. Turn the lights on bright and play some loud music, or lean into it with a nice lullaby.

Medicare, A Brief Summary!

You’ve worked hard for years, and now you’ve become Medicare-eligible. It’s time to claim the benefits you deserve. Are you prepared to claim what’s owed you? Do you know what is covered and what is not covered under Medicare?

Medicare began back in 1966 and is administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). According to CMS, Medicare is a health insurance program for people age 65 or older, those under age 65 with certain disabilities, or individuals with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

CMS lists three different part of Medicare and provides descriptions. They are Part A, Part B and Part D.

  • Part A, also known as hospital insurance, provides coverage for inpatient care in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. Part A provides coverage for hospice care and some home health care. The majority of those covered by Part A do not pay premiums for this coverage because it was paid through payroll taxes during their working years.
  • Part B, also known as medical insurance, provides coverage for outpatient care and doctors’ services. The majority of those on Part B pay a monthly premium for that service.
  • Part D, known as prescription drug coverage, is available to everyone who is on Medicare. Coverage for this part of Medicare is obtained by joining a Medicare-approved plan that offers coverage for prescription drug costs. The majority of those who have Part D pay a monthly premium for that coverage.

Medicare doesn’t provide 100% coverage. Here are some items listed on Medicare.gov that are not covered under Medicare Part A or Part B.

  • Long-term care
  • Most dental care and dentures
  • Eye exams if related to prescribing glasses
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Acupuncture
  • Hearing aids and exams for fitting them
  • Routine foot care
